How to wear 2025 spring trends (pt 1)
Styling ideas + outfit formulas to adapt trends for YOUR vibe
At Fashivly, we think about trends as a way to make fashion feel like play. Trends give us fresh inspiration to find new ways of approaching style references and experiment with a cultural conversation. Not all trends will be for you — some trends make you feel curious or excited or more like a version of yourself you love. Others, not so much. And that’s how it’s supposed to be!
Style is personal and it’s constantly in flux. When we talk about trends, we hope to give you some creative juice to experiment with your personal style and find a sense of play. From our perspective, trends shouldn’t feel like pressure to overconsume, but rather inspiration for a creative practice.
We spend every day helping our clients define their personal style and translate it to their daily outfits. Whether you need to find uniforms that make getting dressed easier, or you want to experiment with trends that work with your closet and your style, we’d love to create some 100% personalized looks for you!
The trends we' chose for Spring fall into our fashion lifecycle sweet spot:
in between early adopters and mainstream
widely available at accessible price points
but not so saturated yet, so it still feels fresh and fun
Sporty Luxe
Driven in part by Doechii, Sporty Luxe is Americana meets prep with a cool, modern twist. It’s not the boat shoe and khaki version of prep — though we’re seeing fresh versions of that in 2025, too — this is more a subverted, experimental take on a school uniform or sports kit.
Play with contrast here, pairing a sporty element with something luxe, then bring in your style references to make it you.
For instance:
Try a colorful varsity jacket (sporty) with a sleek silk dress (luxe). This formula would be great with a combat boot for a bit of edge, slim sneakers if you want to double down on sporty, peep toe mules for a little y2k, or strappy sandals for a modern feminine take. Bonus: bring in a charm necklace or add patches to your jacket to play with another one of our spring trends, Trinkets!
Style track pants (sporty) with your best oversized button down shirt (luxe) and a pointed toe heel or elevated strappy sandal (luxe). Sort of a luxe/sporty sandwich, if you will, where the sporty piece is in the middle. Add a sleek leather bag and layered jewelry to amp up the luxe, or a canvas tote and baseball hat to make it more sporty.
Pair a striped rugby shirt (sporty) with a slip skirt or tailored suit pants (luxe). Pair it with a sneaker for another take on a sporty/luxe sandwich, except this time the “luxe” element is in the middle of the sandwich instead of the sporty element.
Powder Pink
Our color of the season! Pastels pop up to some extent every Spring, and as ballet and boho rise in popularity, this year it’s all about powder pink. We’re seeing this romantic, feminine shade in every product category across tons of retailers in 2025.
Sometimes reserved to the most ethereal and dreamy vibes, this year powder pink is showing up in unexpected ways that make it a compelling shade to experiment with across multiple styles.
For a colorful combo, try powder pink with camel, ice blue, and oxblood:
It’s also a great pairing with grey and red, like in this sporty luxe look:
And it shines with dark wash denim and crisp white:
See — not limited to ballet and bohemian vibes! (But it can certainly be that, too.)
The ethereal girlies might choose a gauzy blouse or flowy skirt in powder pink, while those who want to lean into balletcore might opt for a scrunchie, flat, or wrap sweater.
If you want to play with powder pink in a way that doesn’t veer into ballet or boho territory, try it in an unexpected piece. Powder pink funky sunglasses, academic loafers, or classic woven bags are all fun pieces to play with if your style words don’t lean romantic.
Slim Sneakers
We’re still in the era of the sneaker and they’re getting slimmer, almost sock-like. Ballet and sporty luxe both show up in this trend, as does the rise of maximalism. Colorful sneakers were one of our picks in the Fall, and that’s continuing into Spring with the slim sneaker trend. If colorful kicks are too much for you, fear not: neutral slim sneakers are just as prominent this season!
Play with slim sneakers as your sporty element to explore Sporty Luxe:
Slim sneaker + silk slip dress
Slim sneaker + suit trousers + a vest
Slim sneaker + a pleated skirt + a pinstripe blazer
Or style slim sneakers with looser pieces to play with contrast:
A flowy sundress
Pleat-front trousers
Wide leg denim
This is a great shoe to pair with a “big pant, little top” moment! Or big pant, big top — either way, it adds a nice element of balance to oversized proportions.
Oversized Bags
Function over form may be coming back, and a ludicrously capacious bag is inherently functional—but can also be chic. We’ve got places to be, people to see, and we need a bag fit for schlepping so we don’t miss a beat. Think back to middle school when we were carrying out purses that were bigger than we were, thinking we were the pinnacle of cool. Now, we can live that reality. But who says practical has to be boring?
This is an easy trend to make your own! Opt for…
An interesting pattern! Maybe animal print, striped, even something embroidered.
A cool texture—suede is everywhere right now, which is a great option, but we’re also loving the return of patent leather! As it warms up, natural textures like raffia will be having their moment as well.
A pop of color, because what easier way to make a practical item fun? And it adds a punch to your outfit
An eye-catching silhouette—we won’t go too crazy here and defeat the practicality of the bag, but you can play with structure, pockets, strap length, etc. We’re seeing lots of cool shapes, from bucket bags to ultra-structured and boxy to organic, soft curves and edges.
There’s one for everyone, and it has room for everything. Plus, more space to personalize with bag charms, scarves, etc, which we’ll get into more next week…stay tuned for trinkets, because these two trends go hand in hand.
Polka Dots
We’re starting to exit “quiet luxury” as a cultural moment and preparing to enter one where experimentation and playfulness step into the spotlight. The pendulum is swinging!
Part of that shift: you’re going to see a lot more print in general this season, and right now, polka dots are popping up everywhere.
Here’s a polka dot look we created for a client who described her style as “60s mod meets preppy meets tiny bit of punk”:
And another for a client with 70s, French, edgy references:
Totally different vibe, right? We paired polka dots with plaid here, which takes it in a more 70s direction. Stripes are another great option if you want to play with print mixing and your style leans classic or preppy:
Speaking of stripes, stay tuned for part 2! We’re seeing a ton of fresh, fun takes on stripes this season and will give you styling ideas to play with stripes next week.
